Consultation of Gynecologist

A preventive examination by a gynecologist is an important part of women’s health and helps to identify and prevent possible diseases in time. The main components of a preventive examination by a gynecologist include:

  1. History: The doctor communicates with a patient to collect medical history, reproductive and sexual history, as well as other factors that may affect women’s health.
  2. Physical exam: includes an external examination, palpation of the internal organs through the walls of the abdomen, as well as an internal examination using gynecological speculums and instruments.
  3. Pap test (cervical cytology): This test helps to detect pathological changes at the cellular level, including signs of precancerous conditions of the cervix. Screening for cervical cancer is recommended every three years with a liquid Pap test or annually with conventional cytology.
  4. Colposcopy: If abnormalities are detected after the Pap test, the doctor may perform a colposcopy – an examination of the cervix and vagina using a special instrument (microscope).
  5. Pelvic USG: Ultrasound helps to evaluate the uterus, ovaries and other pelvic organs, to identify tumors, cysts and other abnormalities.
  6. Mammography: This is a breast examination that helps to detect signs of breast cancer in women over a certain age. Routine mammography is recommended every two years starting at age 45.
  7. Vaginal exam: An examination of the vagina and cervix can help identify inflammation, infection, or other abnormalities.
  8. Reproductive Health Counseling: Your doctor can give advice on contraception, pregnancy planning, and other aspects of reproductive health.
  9. Screening for infections: Depending on the risks and indicators, the doctor may recommend testing for sexually transmitted infections such as HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, and others.
  10. Breast health consultation: The doctor can examine the breasts and teach the patient to self-check them.

It is important to note that the frequency and extent of preventive examinations may vary depending on age, risks and doctor’s recommendations.
